Default Clomid

We have been trying IUI since March. My husband has a very low sperm count, which was contributed to varicoceles. He had surgery in April to repair them, and we haven't seen an increase in sperm yet. My question is, should I start Clomid to increase my eggs to allow for a better chance of getting pregnant, or should we continue to wait to see if there is an improvment. We cannot afford IVF right now, so we are doing everything that is covered under our insurance.

Thanks,
Heather

Default Treatment for low sperm count

We have two options when treating male infertility/low sperm counts. One is intrauterine insemination and ovulation induction to increase the number of eggs is a useful adjunct to this therapy. If this is not successful or if the numbers and/or motility and/or the sperm morphology are low then it is better to do IVF with ICSI, intracytoplasmic sperm injection to assist with fertilization. Issues such as cost and insurance coverage and patient age and any other associated diagnoses are important to know in making decision.
