Default First IUI this week

I will be doing my first IUI this week. I started Clomid on days 3-7, it is now day 16. I did an ultrasound and blood work this morning at ECF and was told I had a 17mm follicle on one side an a 19.5mm on the other. The lining was a 7.5mm. I received my Ovidrel today and will be returning tomorrow to have this administered, along with blood work and sono. There are planning on doing two IUIs. Is it highly possible that I could end up with twins?

Icon14 Good Luck

Anything is possible. It is rare though. I doubt it. Good Luck to you.

Icon7 risk of twins with clomid

There is an 8-10% incidence of twins overall including all patients when using clomid.

I had my first IUI yesterday and I had quite a bit of cramping 12 hrs after. I have the second IUI in the morning. Dr. Keiner when will the cramping go away?

cramping does not typically last long if it is just due to the IUI. However, sometimes women who ovulate on clomid experience cramping from the ovulation which can last a day. Longer than that I would get it checked out in the office.

Hi Dr. Kreiner,

How soon after the Ovidrel shot can I do a HPT? I received the shot on Wed, April 28th and did back to back IUIs on the 29th and 30th. I started crinone on May 1st. It is now 12 days PO for the shot and 10 days PO the 2nd IUI. I go back to ECF this Thurs, May 13th to do the official pregnancy test. I am scared!!! What are your thoughts??

Icon7 When Are Blood Pregnancy Tests Sensitive

You may first see hCG in the blood about 9 days after conception but there may still be hCG remaining from the trigger shot prior to ovulation. Therefore, we traditionally schedule the test about two weeks after ovulation. However, if you do two tests two days apart starting as early as then you would likely see a rising hCG level indicating a healthy pregnancy. The later you test the more reliable it is.
